Knocktopher Abbey, County Kilkenny

There’s something about Southern Ireland that makes you feel relaxed from the moment you arrive.

The timeless peace and beauty of County Kilkenny is sure to work its magic on even the most stressed visitor. Situated between Kilkenny and Waterford, the resort is located on the grounds of Knocktopher Abbey and is surrounded by wild, unspoilt mountain ranges, forest roads, beautiful villages, harbours, beaches and castles.

Of course, Ireland never fails to live up to its worldrenowned reputation for hospitality and entertainment, this corner of South East Ireland is no exception.

Set in 17 acres of mature gardens and parkland, the original Abbey rests on the site of a Norman castle, the keep of which still stands today.

In the 13th Century the Abbey was home to the first Carmelite order in Ireland, and remained so until Cromwell occupied the building in 1647. The house itself was home for three centuries to the Lords of Ballyhale. Easily accessible via Wales, there are several daily car ferries from both Fishguard and Pembroke to Rosslare, which is only 56 miles from the resort. Alternatively there are frequent flights from UK airports to Dublin (78 miles) and Waterford airports (25 miles).
