of Mexico’s most beautiful ocean side destinations,
Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo enjoys a warm climate, with average
year-round temperatures of 28ºC. Nestling between
the Sierra Madre mountains and the Pacific ocean,
Ixtapa is a modern tourist resort with a marina for
more than 600 craft, while the picturesque town of
Zihuatanejo has a more traditional, rural feel. There
are two golf courses and for underwater fans (from
beginners to experts) there are more than 30 world
class diving sites.
By contrast, in the surrounding
areas, covered in lush vegetation, there are ecotourism
outings, or you can participate in wildlife conservation
programmes. For the adventurous, there are guided
bicycle rides, kayaking, horseback riding and other
exciting options. But if you prefer relaxing, then
simply explore the beautiful countryside and take
a sunset cruise. Then at nightfall, you can find
a Fiesta Mexicana, live music at one of the many
charming restaurants and several discotheques. Both
towns also have large and colourful artisan markets,
ideal for souvenir and gift shopping.
