SEASONS HOLIDAYS NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 2009
£25 WINNING LETTER
RYAN SCORES WITH FOREST HILLS STAFF
Yet again, we have a lovely note of thanks and appreciation for the staff at Seasons Forest Hills near Estepona. Everyone there went out of their way to make it an enjoyable and memorable trip for the Lee family from Nottingham, even though young Ryan was far from well during his stay.
| Our picture shows one of Ryan’s proudest moments, when he posed with players of his favourite Derby County Football Club as their mascot. Ryan’s dad has been a life-long fan and Ryan was given a signed birthday card from the footballers, along with an autograph book, as well as the football. Ryan will be 15 on October 11th. |
Have YOU got a story about your Seasons holiday or short break that you would like to share? Simply email it to insight@seasonsholidays.com and you could win £25 if your entry is chosen as the winning letter in a future edition of Seasons eNews Update! And remember that attaching a photograph will give you a much better chance of catching the Editor's eye!
IMPORTANT INTERNAL BANKING CHANGES
In order to cut down on the number of calls to Membership Services – thus freeing up staff to answer members’ queries - the procedure for Internal Banking has changed as follows:
Seasons Full Charter Members no longer have to phone Membership Services to Internally bank their week. However, their week must be used by the end of the following year. This means that a week banked in 2008 must be used by the end of December 2009. |
HONEYMOON AT WHITBARROW
When Dave Blinkhorn and his partner Kathleen Basey, from Bishop Auckland, County Durham, booked up their very first Seasons holiday at Whitbarrow Village in the Lake District, it was to be a very special family affair in many ways.

'GREAT STAFF' IN LANZAROTE
We know from the number of emails we receive how popular Seasons Lanzarote resort is, but Chris and Keith Brunning, from Shrewsbury in Shropshire, must surely be two of the resort’s keenest fans!

SPECIAL REQUESTS
Please remember that Seasons confirmations have been redesigned to show a ‘Special Request’ box. This means that if a Member requests anything out of the ordinary, such as no steps, a cot or a disabled lodge, it is entered onto the reservation and then printed on the confirmation.
Therefore, in order to ensure that everyone gets what they need, will all Members please check their booking confirmations, and, if their special request doesn’t appear, they need to contact Membership Services on 01994 426000 and ask for a REVISED confirmation showing their requests. Many thanks.

A FANTASTIC HOLIDAY AT CLOWANCE

The first of two fans of Seasons flagship resort in Cornwall this issue are Julia and Stephen Burton, from Bingley in Yorkshire.
’I just had to write and say what a fantastic holiday we had at Clowance Estate.
I have included a picture of my daughter Sophie and myself in the tree house in the grounds.

CLOWANCE 'SECOND TO NONE'
Second is Darren Godbert from Preston in Lancashire, who took his daughter Saffron and son Josh to Clowance recently.
The picture shows a wonderful ‘swallows and amazons’ moment’, which I took from the balcony of the Boat House. Saffron is at the front of the boat, next to Luke, who we met on holiday along with his sister Faye, who is sitting with Josh at the back.

'WONDERFUL HOLIDAY' AT KNOCKTOPHER
We were delighted to hear from Sheila, Doug and Adam Spivey, who live in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, how much they had enjoyed their holiday at Seasons Eire resort, near Kilkenny.
‘I thought I would let you know that my family had a wonderful holiday at the Seasons resort in Ireland. We arrived after a long journey, as we left the day before to go to Fishguard to catch the ferry to Rosslaire. |

NEW CONSUMER ALERT
We are grateful to yet another of Seasons members for alerting us to the fact that they recently received a suspicious-sounding, unsolicited call from International Timeshare Refund Action, a bogus timeshare compensation company.
They report that, although initially interested, having checked the internet forums for any findings on ITRA, they discovered that many consumers have already lost money through ITRA and its related resale scam company, ETOO.
In response to this member’s report, SOCC chairman Jeff Elder stated: “The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) is actively seeking information from consumers who have been conned or have been approached, as you have been. They are aiming to stop the scammers, which is not easy, as they keep popping up with new names. For example, we were aware of the notorious ETOO, but not ITRA.”
He went on to say that timeshare owners who have received such approaches by scammers claiming to be resale agents and promising a 'guaranteed buyer' and a high price for their unwanted timeshare are urged to pass these complaints on to the OFT.
How the scam usually works is that consumers are first tricked into making an upfront payment of several hundred pounds, to cover so-called 'administration costs' or 'land registry charges' but then the 'definite buyer' falls through. The consumer is subsequently asked to attend a meeting with another buyer, often referred to as a 'corporate buyer,' to discuss their offer. Usually these meetings take place some distance from the consumer’s home – often abroad, most commonly in a Spanish resort or other holiday destination – where the consumer is made to sit through a high pressure sales presentation often lasting several hours. They will then often be offered membership of a bogus holiday club in exchange for their timeshare, plus an additional payment of several thousand pounds and the consumer will be heavily pressured into making a decision on the spot.
Genuine avenues for timeshare resale do exist but the OFT advises owners to always take advice first, do some research on the company making the offer and to check out the truthfulness of any promises made before making a decision. Should you be approached and need any advice, feel free to call Seasons Membership Services on 01994 426000.

YET MORE FANS OF THE COUNTY HOTEL
Erin Cornish, Resort Manager of the very popular County Hotel in Bath, reports that a number of guests have sent ‘thank you’ cards to her and the staff, to say how much they enjoyed their visit.
WINNER |
The winner of this month’s best entry to the new myseasonsholidays.com site is David & Anne Mullins, who went to a great deal of trouble to send a very well considered and presented illustrated guide of the Clowance area which would be of use to other members. Unfortunately, we weren't able to include all of his pictures, but we thank him for taking the trouble! |
| As a prize, David & Anne will be receiving a FREE short break at his choice of Seasons UK resorts. And next August, the entry judged to be the year’s best entry from all of the monthly winners will win a Bonus Week for six! So keep those holiday emails rolling in! |
