SEASONS HOLIDAYS JUNE 2010 ENEWS
MAR DA LUZ ‘ONE OF THE BEST’

Anne-Marie James and her team at Seasons Reservations were very happy to receive the following enthusiastic email from June and Bob Bateman, from Wokingham in Berkshire, who obviously enjoyed a great holiday in Portugal!

’My wife and I have just returned from a weeks holiday at Mar Da Luz in Portugal and would like to express our thanks and congratulations to both Seasons and the staff at the resort.

We have been members for 12 years and over that time have visited all Seasons resorts, plus a number of Affiliated, RCI and Interval International resorts, and we can say Mar Da Luz is without doubt one of the best we have stayed at anywhere in the world. The quality and layout of the units is excellent, as are the on-site facilities. All the staff were great and couldn't have been more helpful - especially Denise and Elaine.

Although the site is a little bit out on its own, it is possible to walk into Praia Da Luz, with its restaurants and fabulous beach. Even if you don’t want to walk, there is a site mini-bus service to take you anywhere you would like to go at a very reasonable price. The staff also lay on a number of evening trips during the week, There is also a very good restaurant within walking distance from the resort. All in all, we had a great time and look forward to our next visit. Best regards.’

FAMILY HOLIDAY IN PORTUGAL

Seasons members George and Nikki O'Neil of Gloucester hadn’t been on holiday with both their sons, Dan and Alex, for a few years.  However, their recent holiday together at Mar da Luz in Portugal proved to be a great success.

Our picture shows George and Nikki at the Fort Restaurant in Luz on their last night, which was also Alex's birthday. Nikki said: “We had been to the Fort during our first week and had an excellent meal there, so we went back again to celebrate his birthday.  Another day, we all went on the coastal walk from Mar da Luz to Luz, where the scenery is fabulous.”

BIG SMILES FROM CLUB TAHITI

Jayne Price of Club Tahiti has sent us some pictures of Seasons members taken from the poolbar barbeque and a local bar. And judging by their smiles, they all had a great time and will certainly be back in Lanzarote again as soon as possible!

Keith and Iveth Blackbourne, from Teddington in Middlesex, together with Chloe Wozencrast and Margaret Henderson

Yvonne and Brian Hampshire, from Grays in Essex.

Arwyn & Wendie George from Swansea

How impressive is this?  Looks like an audition for ‘The X Factor’ but it’s the Club Tahiti Kids Club 'Smooth Criminal' dance routine!

MY SEASONS WINNER

The winners of this month’s best entry to the myseasonsholidays.com site are Barry and Marilyn Watkinson, from Basingstoke who have used their Seasons membership to the full, in order to travel the world – literally!

As a prize, the family will be receiving a FREE short break at their choice of Seasons UK resorts. And in August, the entry judged to be the year’s best entry from all of the monthly winners will win a Bonus Week for six! The winner’s name will be announced in this newsletter in September. Time’s running out, as you’ve only got TWO MONTHS to submit your entries, so make sure you upload your Seasons holiday pictures and stories to www.myseasonsholidays.com

WIFI ACCESS AT LAUGHARNE PARK

We are sure that the many Seasons members who love to visit Laugharne Park near Carmarthen will be delighted to learn that Reception now have Wi-Fi access.  In order to use this facility, members will need to obtain a password, with the charges being £1.00 for an hour, £5.00 for half a day or £10.00 for the week.

FOREST HILLS

You may remember reading in last month’s newsletter about two Seasons member families who were affected by the unpronounceable Icelandic

volcano?  Well in both cases, thanks to Seasons Holidays, they were able to enjoy a later holiday because of availability, and we were very pleased to hear from another two families who had a similar experience.  If you have a story to tell about your Seasons holiday, do please remember to send us an email to reservations@seasonsholidays.com and tell us.  You could win a free short break and there are still two months to go to win a bonus week!

Firstly, from The Slaters, of Ulverston, Cumbria

We were not able to go to Forest Hills as planned in April, because of the volcanic ash, but Natalie helped us rearrange everything and re-planned our holiday in May. We were then even more fortunate with the weather and we had a fantastic holiday which was every thing we hoped for.

And now we hear from Raymond and Evelyn Todd, from County Antrim.

‘We booked a holiday in Forest Hills for the period 11 – 18th April 2010. Unfortunately, like thousands of other holidaymakers, our flights home to GB were cancelled because of the volcanic eruption in Iceland. The dates of our booking had been chosen to fit in with other personal commitments and the flights cancellations were therefore stressful and a most unpleasant experience.

FLY THE HUNTING BIRDS OF OLD

How do you fancy chancing your arm by flying these magnificent creatures in some of the loveliest countryside in Wales?  The experience is truly unbelievable, as you watch them skilfully riding the thermals searching for their supper.  No wonder this was always one of the favourite sports enjoyed by the kings and queens, lords and ladies of olden times!  And now you can share this unique experience easily, by booking a date to suit yourself.

The number to call is obtainable from Guest Relations at Laugharne Park. You will also be able view the wild birds of prey in their natural surroundings. These include buzzards and kites, which are successfully making a welcome comeback to Wales, with numbers going from strength to strength each year.

STEAM RAILWAYS

If you don’t already know, then those of our readers of a certain age (usually under 10 and over 50) may be interested to know of the existence and location of a number of steam railways within reach of Laugharne Park. Though we can reassure anyone between the ages of 10 and 50 that they are also welcome to join the aforementioned enthusiasts!

For information on all the following, contact Guest Relations at Laugharne Park. Please note that these railways do not always use steam, so it’s best to check first.

UPDATE ON BURN PARK FOALS

Probably our readers’ favourite on-going story in the past few months has been the joys and tragedy associated with the equine population at Burn Park.  As followers of the tale will know, Resort Manager Gill Kaye and her daughter Samantha have rescued many horses and ponies over the years.

CLUB TAHITI GOES THE EXTRA MILE

Ken Yates of Club Tahiti recently received the following email from Carl & Rachel Harris and their children from Tunbridge Wells.  Like so many others, they too were caught out by the volcanic duct cloud, but in this case, they were stuck in Lanzarote at the time (what a shame!).

UPDATE ON LAKES & SCOTLAND

Even though he is currently General Manager of both Seasons Whitbarrow Village in the Lake District and Seasons Brunston Castle in Ayrshire, the tireless Vaughan Kennedy has still found time to send our readers an update on the latest refurbishments at both resorts.

‘Since the last edition of E-News, the refurbishment of Grisedale 2 and Derwent 5 are well underway. This is in line with constant calls from our members to bring our traditional lodges up to date and in line with modern trends, whilst ensuring that we remain sympathetic to the Traditional cause.
