Few states
have such spectacular and varied terrain as Arizona,
yet because the early explorers always kept to the south,
the popular image of Arizona as a one huge desert was
created. |

In
reality, much of the mountainous eastern and northern
parts of the state have extensive conifer forests, but
the state’s irresistible attraction for literally
millions of visitors the world over is the legendary
Grand Canyon (pictured above). At 227 miles long, and
a maximum of 18 miles wide and over one mile deep, this
is one of the world’s greatest natural wonders,
awe inspiring in every way.
Here in Arizona, you’re in what used to be the Wild West, and
featuring typical south-western architecture, the resort offers a
luxurious oasis amid spectacular desert scenery, dotted with giant
cacti and Joshua trees. Blue jeans, 10 gallon hats, bolo ties and
cowboy boots are the standard attire, and if you don’t have
the latter yet, you can certainly shop for them while you are on
holiday, with plenty of bargains available in the nearby state capital
of Phoenix. You may also enjoy a day trip to Sedona (some 2 hours
drive), where the scenery is spectacular! |
