Set amidst
pine trees, just five minutes drive from the clifftop
above beautiful Falesia beach, Seasons at Alpinus is
ideally placed close to the popular resort of Albufeira
and an easy drive from the Algarve capital of Faro. |

This
new ‘aparthotel’ style resort is set in its
own grounds comprising pool and garden areas and ample
parking space, only 40 minutes drive (20 miles) from
Faro airport and within 15 minutes of elegant Vilamoura,
with its three 18 hole championship golf courses, casino
and internationally renowned marina, complete with a
wide variety of restaurants and shops.
When you remember that the area basks in an average of over 3,000
hours of sunshine a year and the local people are famous for their
traditionally warm hospitality, it is little wonder that the Algarve
has remained near the top of the European tourist list for decades.
And this attraction is now enhanced by the budget price flights to
Faro from various UK regional airports offered by low-cost airlines.
Sheltered by the towering sandstone cliffs and lapped by the sparkling
blue Atlantic Ocean, the local golden beach stretches 15 miles from
Albufeira to Vilamoura. A regular courtesy bus runs from the resort
to the beach during the season. |

Seasons
at Alpinus is the perfect holiday destination for families
and couples alike. But why spend your whole holiday
at the resort when there’s so much more to explore
elsewhere? We thoroughly recommend you hire a car – at
least for a few days – in order to visit other
ocean vistas and resorts along the Algarve. For as
soon as you drive into the hinterland, you’ll
find lots of unspoilt villages and stunning mountain
scenery as well. So be sure to take your camera.

Exploring
the area
Alpinus offers an ideal centre from which to explore the Algarve,
which is only 100 miles long, from the Spanish border in the east
to the most south-westerly point of Europe – the spectacular
granite cliffs of Cape Saint Vincent – known to sailors in
the Middle Ages as ‘The End of the World’. If you hire
a car, you’ll find you have easy access to an excellent new
motorway network, which serves most of the Algarve, and makes day
trips to Lisbon and Seville an exciting option. |

Wherever
you go, you’ll find some of Europe’s finest
beaches, and one of the joys of the Algarve is that each
seaside town has its own individual character. Some of
the most popular beaches are around Portimao, such as
the famous Praia da Rocha, with its fascinating rock
formations. And while you’re in the area, be sure
to enjoy the local specialities – freshly grilled
sardines and spicy piri piri chicken!
Another
favourite is Albufeira, only 15 minutes drive from Alpinus,
with its extensive sandy beach dotted with colourful fishing
boats and a dramatic natural backdrop of steep sandstone
cliffs. The oldest part of this popular resort has quaint
whitewashed buildings and Moorish arches, while the newer
parts are lower down the hill, with a tunnel linking the
main beach to the town centre. Albufeira itself can get
quite busy in the main season, with a vibrant nightlife,
but you don’t have to go far to find peace and quiet
further along the coast. If you can, try to fit in visits
to the fascinating port of Lagos and the pretty seaside
resorts of Carvoeiro, Alvor, Burgau and Luz. |

Pine
Cliffs 9 Hole Golf Course
Situated
close to Alpinus, this interesting 2,305 metre course,
with many of its fairways running through fragrant
pine trees, offers quite a challenge, even to experienced
golfers. Another popular feature is the driving range,
with a choice of nine different target greens to aim
at, and whether you’re a beginner or simply feel
your game could do with a bit of extra tuition, Pine
Cliffs Golf Academy has an excellent reputation with
locals and visitors alike. Golfing equipment is available
for hire. |
