TOP STRIKER LOVES SEASONS RESORTS
Seasons
member Kris Boyd, striker for Scotland and Glasgow Rangers,
dropped into Brunston Castle for the day recently to meet
up with resort manager Norma Docherty and European Sales
Director Drew Murdoch (pictured).
Kris has become a regular visitor to Seasons resorts in the
last couple of years, so being an Ayrshire boy born and bred,
he thought it only right to drop into his local resort.
"
My family and I met Drew when we stayed at Alpinus last year,"
he said. "As soon as we arrived, we were
immediately impressed both by the welcoming atmosphere and
the level of service provided by the guest relations team.
They really pulled out all the stops for the members, whether
it was arranging golf days out or just activities for the
resort kids club.
"
After speaking with some of the other guests, it became apparent
that with a young family, I should maybe try Club Tahiti
in Lanzarote this year. Everyone said that it's
great for children, great for relaxation and great for a
laugh, which sounds to me like the ideal tonic at the end
of the football season!"
Commenting on their famous visitor, Drew Murdoch said: "Kris
finished top premier league scorer in Scotland last year
and added to his international caps with a fine season, so
we wish him all the best for a repeat performance this year."
And the final word comes from Norma Docherty: "Kris
is a local boy who is now an international footballer, which
is great for Ayrshire. We certainly look forward to seeing
the Boyd family again at Brunston Castle and at other Seasons
resorts in 2007."

WIN A VIP DAY OUT!
As you know, Seasons Holidays are very excited about the
fact that they are the first-ever sponsors of the Queen Mother
Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival on Wednesday March
14th 2007. And to celebrate, we are offering all Seasons

on March 12th at the 2008 Cheltenham Festival, as guests

to be televised live at 3.15p.m. on Wednesday March 14th
2007 on Channel Four Racing. Then simply email us the names

not forgetting to give your name and address. All entries

fabulous prize will be drawn by Seasons member Derek Thompson,
well known Channel Four Racing commentator and tipster.
The winner will be notified by email and their name will

VOTE FOR LINDA ROBSON IN COMIC RELIEF DOES FAME ACADEMY!
Yes,
Linda Robson, charity fund-raiser and popular star of stage
and TV, will be appearing in the third series
of the winning partnership - 'Comic Relief
Does Fame Academy' - which
means she will need YOUR votes as fellow Seasons members!
On launch night, Saturday March 3rd, Linda will be one of
13 celebrity students who will sing for their survival, to
raise money for Red Nose Day. The previous series raised
over a million pounds and now the Academy welcomes a fresh
batch of celebrity students, including Rowland Rivron, Tara
Palmer-Tomkinson and Zoe Salmon, all hoping to follow in
the footsteps of 2005 winner, Radio One's
Edith Bowman.
The show will then go nightly as from March 7th, on BBC1,
BBC3, CBBC and BBCi until Comic Relief - The
Big One on Friday 16 March - Red Nose Day - when one of the
students will be crowned winner.
Regular host Patrick Kielty will be joined by Claudia Winkleman,
who moves over from BBC3 to preside over the live event,
while resident vocal coaches David and Carrie Grant are on
hand to encourage the best performances possible. Back on
judge duties and fresh from her West End role in 'The
Sound of Music' is Lesley Garrett. She
is joined again by top West End choreographer and 'Strictly
Come Dancing' judge, Craig Revel Horwood,
with Richard Park completing the trio.
Each night, viewers vote to save their favourite student.
The three students with the lowest number of votes find themselves
in the bottom three, where they perform again. One of the
bottom three is then saved by the judges, while the remaining
pair have to face their Academy colleagues, who vote for
who they want to save. The student with the most votes remains
and the loser is expelled, leaving that night, with tensions
growing as the remainder edge closer to being crowned winner.
So don't miss 'Comic
Relief Does Fame Academy', starting this
coming Saturday on BBC1, from 5.55pm to 7.15pm and then again
from 9.05pm to 9.35pm - and be sure to vote for Seasons very
own star - Linda Robson!
'NEW LOOK' FOR ORIGINAL WHITBARROW
UNITS
Whitbarrow
Refurbishment - Interior Resort Manager Alasdair Sunter reports that, in response
to demand, much of the original,
traditional accommodation at Whitbarrow Village has been
updated and spruced up during the winter months:
' For a long time now, guests have been requesting holidays
in the original buildings, which have bags of character,
but have been lacking in the style and flair of the new Kirkstone
and Troutbeck lodges. However, four of the Bowscale units,
along with the block of four Martindales, are in the process
of being completely refitted.
Work will be completed by the beginning of April, but already
five out of the eight lodges have been upgraded. This involves
fitting new bathrooms and new kitchens, together with new
furniture in the lounge, dining area and bedrooms. Pictured
above is Martindale One, a converted stable block, which
features original exposed stone walls and rustic beams. As
you see, the smart new 'Shaker' style
kitchen with Belfast sink fit perfectly into the 'rustic'
theme and the appliances are all integrated. The bedrooms
also
follow through the 'Shaker' theme,
with whitewashed board furniture and simple lines of design
and style. The Martindale block is now also home to the two
lodges at Whitbarrow which have been adapted for disabled
use.
We hope that we will have further chance to bring the remaining
traditional accommodations up to the same standard soon,
although twenty-one of the original units were upgraded during
2005 and 2006, with new kitchens, new bathrooms and some
new furniture. In any event, we feel sure that many Seasons
members and guests will be keen to enjoy the upgraded accommodation
in one of our most UK popular resorts.'

£25 WINNING LETTER
NEW YEAR AT WHITBARROW VILLAGE
It was a great pleasure to hear from long-term Seasons members
Barbara and Steve Bentall, from Witney, that they had enjoyed
such a memorable New Year's break in the
Lake District. Here's how Barbara described
their visit:
'After returning
from a New Year`s break at Whitbarrow Village, I felt I had
to write and let you know about our truly wonderful long
weekend.
We have been a member of the "Seasons Family"
(as I like to call it) for six years. We normally have five
weeks abroad at Seasons resorts and have always had a terrific
time.
Last year, we decided that perhaps we should try some of
the UK resorts. Christmas is always hectic and a very demanding
time, so I suggested that perhaps we should go away for New
Year. Last year we went to Laugharne Park and had a fantastic
time, even though both of us had 'flu.
This year we thought about Whitbarrow Village. We knew the
weather wouldn't be good, as you can't
expect much at that time of the year after all.
We arrived on the Saturday before New Year during the early
afternoon after a light lunch and a couple of drinks at 'The
Sportsman', just down the lane. We went
to Reception and got the usual friendly Seasons' welcome
and were told where our apartment was and how to get to it.
As we were leaving Reception, imagine our surprise when we
heard a voice we knew only too well: "Well,
aren't you going to say hello then?"
It was Steve Birch, who we first met in Forest Hills. Steve
(husband) and I both knew instantly that we were going to
have a fabulous stay. Steve showed us to our accommodation,
took us to the Saddleback Bar and introduced us to everyone.
It was so good to see him – a friendly
Seasons' face! Just like meeting up with
an old friend.
We had friends joining us on New Year's
Eve. From the moment they arrived, they also felt as though
they were welcome. We booked for the New Year Party – what
a fantastic evening – very good value.
Try going out at home for £15 per head (plus
drinks). We were most impressed at the hard work put into
the evening by all the staff and they looked as though they
were enjoying themselves too. We must say that Steve Birch
did more than the call of duty that night!
After the wonderful party, we settled down for a couple of
days to relax. We enjoyed the sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi
and swimming pool. The accommodation was, as always, clean
and well presented. We had a couple of light bulbs that weren't
working – but one quick call to Reception
and everything was fixed within half an hour.
All in all, we had a wonderful time and will continue to
take our New Year breaks with Seasons and indeed at Whitbarrow
Village. We know that there are plans to extend and update
Whitbarrow. The plans look terrific but we do hope that it
won't spoil the intimacy that the resort
has at present. It is quite delightful and so friendly, which
are qualities which I'm sure the plans
won't change!
The thing about Seasons is that you know where you are wherever
you go and you do feel at home (part of a family). Everyone
cares about your enjoyment. We've certainly
never looked back since joining. Our thanks to everyone at
Whitbarrow Village who made our New Year so enjoyable, but
special thanks must go to Steve Birch, whom we consider to
be one of our special Seasons friends.'

BRUNSTON CASTLE HELPS THE SCOUTS
Brunston Castle helps local ScoutsThe Scouts Organization
celebrate their 100th anniversary this year and Ron Turnbull,
who works at Brunston Castle, has been a Scout for 54 of
those years and a leader since he was 17.
He is currently Group Scout Leader of the 77th Ayrshire 1st
Dailly Group and was very grateful to Seasons for the recent
gift of a photocopier.
Commenting on the generous donation, he said: "'
On behalf of the Group, may we thank Seasons Holidays and
Norma Docherty, manager of Brunston Castle, for the kind
gift of the photocopier, which is something that we have
been badly needing for many years.
It will be located in our new office as part of the refurbishment
of the Scout Hall, which is costing £50,000
and this gift will save monies which can be used elsewhere
within in the Group. We have raised and been gifted approx £42,000
at the moment towards the refurbishment, so all donations
etc are greatly appreciated.'
Our picture shows Norma Docherty officially handing over
the photocopier to Ron.

HAPPY NEW YEAR AT ALPINUS
We were incredibly impressed
by the quality of the photographs of the Alpinus entertainment
sent in by Dave
Parker and his
wife, Ann, of Trowbridge in Wiltshire. But as we might have
guessed, Dave is a professional photographer - and
it shows! It's also good to know that
they had such a happy New Year holiday in the Algarve:
' This must have been our sixth visit to Alpinus, and our
second at New Year. As you may gather, this is a Seasons
resort
we really enjoy, and this year was no exception. In fact,
it was one of the best.
The weather was great, that always helps, but most of all,
the evening entertainment was superb. As a lover of live
music and being a photographer, the opportunity to take photographs
of the artists, with their permission, and not using any
flash which – apart from not intruding
on the performance for both the artist or the audience – gives
great atmosphere to the pictures. So it was doubly enjoyable
listening to great entertainment and capturing some very
special memories.
All the singers, musicians and dancers were extremely talented
and congratulations must go to Ricky Francis for presenting
such a varied and talented group of performers during the
week.
For all the people who were there, and anyone who would like
to see the results of my very enjoyable work I have put the
photos on my website for anyone to look at, so if you are
interested in recapturing the atmosphere of the shows or
seeing what you have in store if you are planning a visit
to Alpinus soon then go to http://www.beanpix.com/gallery/dgpdigital/
Once again many thanks Ricky and all the Seasons staff for
a very memorable weeks stay in Portugal.'

SEASONS DONATES FIRST AID HANDBOOKS
Resort manger Gill Kaye of Burn Park reports that Seasons
Holidays has agreed to fund a First Aid Handbook for each
child in the Stratton School in Bude, which is at the end
of the lane leading to the resort. This is being co-ordinated
by the Children's Safety Education Foundation, and the following
letter was recently received from John McNameee, the Chief
Executive:
' Thank you for supporting this valuable safety initiative.
The Children's Safety Education Foundation
aims to promote and further the personal safety, social,
health and citizenship education of children and young people,
encouraging their study needs through the written word and
also promotion of public interest in Personal Safety and
Citizenship.
The safety resources we provide have been designed with the
co-operation of the emergency services, children protection
experts and teachers to ensure that the serious safety messages
they contain are delivered in the most effective way, fitting
into the personal, social, heath and citizenship education
syllabus.
With the assistance of the local business community, we aim
to provide children throughout the UK with access to our
educational safety programmes. Topics covered include: bullying,
first aid, road safety, drug, alcohol and solvent mis-use,
vandalism, fire safety, car crime and anti-social behaviour.
This initiative complements our philosophy of being community
focused and utilizing partnerships with local businesses
to help keep children safe.
Young people are a valued part of the community and our intention
is to make them feel safe, involved and reassured.
Once again may we thank you for your support. Without your
help, campaigns of this nature would never succeed.'
